1. What the extension does
4lltr4ils GPXtension is a browser extension that lets a user export the route currently open in AllTrails as a standard GPX file. The exported file may include track geometry, elevation data, and waypoints.
The extension is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by AllTrails.
2. Information handled by the extension
When the user chooses to export a route, the extension processes the following information from the active AllTrails page:
- Route geometry, elevation data, and waypoints.
- The current AllTrails page URL or map identifier.
- Temporary client request metadata required to request the selected route.
The temporary client request metadata is stored only in the browser session and is used to complete the route request. It is not used to identify the user or build a profile.
3. Information the extension does not collect
The extension does not collect, store, or transmit to the developer or any unrelated third party:
- Passwords or account credentials.
- Cookies, access tokens, refresh tokens, or DataDome cookies.
- Names, email addresses, or other personally identifying information.
- Payment, financial, health, or personal communication data.
- Browsing history or activity unrelated to the current AllTrails route export.
4. How information is used
Route information is used only to create the GPX file requested by the user. The GPX is generated locally in the browser and can be downloaded directly to the user's device.
The extension does not sell user data, use data for advertising, create user profiles, or use data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
5. Optional QR sharing
If the user explicitly selects Share GPX via QR, only the generated GPX file is uploaded over HTTPS to TempFile.org to create a temporary download link for another device.
Cookies, account credentials, access tokens, refresh tokens, and AllTrails session data are not uploaded to TempFile.org. The temporary link is intended to expire after 24 hours, subject to the temporary file service's operation and policies.
QR sharing is optional. If the user only selects Download GPX, the GPX remains local and is not uploaded by the extension.
6. Storage and retention
Temporary request metadata is stored using browser session storage and is not intended to persist after the browser session ends. The developer does not receive or retain exported GPX files.
Files shared through the optional QR feature are handled by TempFile.org until they expire or are removed according to that service's policies.
7. Security
Optional GPX uploads are made over HTTPS. The extension does not request or transmit passwords, cookies, or account credentials to the developer.
8. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if the extension's functionality or data practices change. The latest version will be published at this URL and the update date will be changed above.
